1. ) a limit at which an arrangement changes. For example a tax threshold is the level of income or profit at which you start to pay a tax:
above/below a threshold: The company's turnover is well below the tax threshold.
a ) a level at which something happens. For example, your hearing threshold is the level of sound that you can hear, and your pain threshold is the level of pain you can feel without suffering or complaining:
changes that take place below the threshold of human perception
b ) a low/high boredom threshold a tendency to get bored/not get bored very quickly
2. ) the floor at the entrance to a room or building:
